Publisher's Description:

American street photographer Mark Cohen often turned his camera on his home town of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and its environs, documenting people, neighbourhoods and objects in his signature style. Snapping quick shots by getting very close to his subjects, oftentimes without focusing, he frames them in such a way as to cut out fragments of gestures, postures, or bodies. The resulting images convey a feeling of restless energy and speak to the strangeness of mundane things. Although uninterested in painting a social portrait of the coal mining region, Cohen nevertheless succeeds in capturing its everyday essence and gritty reality in this remarkable series of photos.
